had real trouble getting my binding to engage on the front mech last night on Kinder. Cleaned it out, faffed around with it but to no avail. eventually had to complete final hour over kinder with fixed heel. Then on descent it kept detaching. Much swearing!
Tried it again today (indoors) and it works perfectly.
Binder is about 6 years old. Hasnt been used since last winter. Never had this problem before.
Any thoughts?
Cheers

In reply to Ben Robson:

When you say cleaned it out, do u mean under the front mech or holes on the boot or both?

In reply to Ben Robson:

quite often the holes in the boots get clogged up with snow and freeze and then its a right drama to get the bindings to attach.

In reply to Ben Robson: Ah, the joys of Dynafiddle! Did you make sure there was no ice built up under the toe area? If the toe piece seemed to engage but then disconnected under minimal stress it may have been ice in the toe lugs. Taking an old nail, or paper clip to clear them out is useful as a pole tip or axe are usually too big.

I've had this problem in the alps when boot packing up in the sun, and then sitting in the shade where water in the toe lugs froze solid.
