I may get some spantiks as I can afford them, I know they are a technical boot but I am off to Mont Blanc in July to climb the haute route. But after this I would like to continue my experience in winter alpine and the greater ranges above 6-7000. Overkill? Thanks

Would second that. They'd have been my first choice for an all-round Scottish Winter/Alps/Himalayan boot had I not picked up another pair of Omegas on the cheap.
