Hi,
Does anyone know if there's any decent snow depth on slopes to practice axe arresting and sliding in the Lakes or Snowdon at the mo?
I probably already know the answer, but there's always hope!
Thanks,
DA

Whereabouts?

In reply to D.Andrew: Snow is lying down to 500m and the gullies are all holding hard packed snow. You should have no problem finding a suitable location. The issue will be more with finding a suitable runout if you are practising self arrest but I can't believe that will be impossible. Left and right parallel gullies on Browncove Crags were in perfect nick for your purposes yesterday, but the runout is steep.

In reply to BnB: thanks. Anyone with local knowledge in N.Wales of a good spot?
