I tried Central Buttress on Tuesday, but backed off due to the snow being too soft and cruddy in the gulley and flank of the ridge where it had been in the sun, before getting to the crest. The snow seemed much better out of the sun, although with some patches of softer snow in places.
I spoke to a team who'd done Eagle Ridge back at the car park and said they'd experienced a few patchs of softer snow but it was generally good but well stepped out. Also saw several people heading up the Black Spout. Plenty of the snow in the corie at the moment. Should be great, especially if it cools down a few degrees. I actually got sunburn winter climbing on Tuesday!
