Topic - Rock fall on Papillon, Fly Wall
|

Was at Wintour's Leap on Sunday and saw what appeared to be a sizeable fresh rock scar towards the top of Papillon E2 on the left end of Fly Wall. On a quick browse I can't find any mention of this in previous threads, so perhaps very recent - the route was logged as recently as 23rd Feb with no mention of what appears to have been a substantial flake departing.
Climbed Butterfly next door, but didn't get a good look at whether the remaining rock looked stable - too busy concentrating on the moves! |

| In reply to The Ivanator: Looked at this more closely on Saturday, and the fall is actually on the extreme left section of Fly Wall (the fin set back left of Papillon). The scar is sizeable and looks fresh, but then these things can look pretty fresh for a good while, so perhaps it has been there a while and I've just not noticed on previous visits. Someone more familiar with the cliff can probably confirm. To all fans of Papillon - sorry for false alarm! |
