Ski brakes question

Is the ski brake width in the specs the maximum ski width the brake will work with, or the actual centre-to-centre width of the brake? I.e. with a 100mm underfoot ski do I need a 100mm brake or a ~110mm brake?
In reply to Bob_the_Builder: I've got 115mm brakes on a 116mm ski and they "just " fit. Obviously better to go bigger but it'll probably fit.

In reply to Bob_the_Builder: Generally speaking yes though it is possible to bend them slightly so they fit a slightly larger ski.
In reply to Frank4short:

haha it wasn't really a yes or no question...

In reply to Bob_the_Builder:
brake width is the width of the brake.
bare in mind they don't sit at the narrowest point on the ski.

In reply to Bob_the_Builder:

I was looking into this recently and I read somewhere (though I can't actually find it again) that on the whole a brake width quoted as 100mm would fit a 100mm ski, so presumably not measure centre to centre between the brake arms.
