Opinions on these two?

Patagonia Simple Guide Hoody

Rab Scimator:

Both pretty good for spring, summer, autumn climbing/approaches in the UK?

In reply to aldo56: The Rab. If only because the pockets are harness/rucksac compatible.

I'm stumped at whether to buy the Rab Scimator or the Rab Vapou rise lite alpine jacket or jacket.

Good review of the VR lite alpine jacket here: http://terrybnd.blogspot.co.uk/2012/07/rab-vapour-rise-lite-alpine-jacket.h...

Cheers

In reply to DoverPiker: I had high hopes for the VR Alpine Lite when I tried it on but it was so rustly and un-stretchy I thought I might as well be wearing something waterproof. Very disappointed.

Try the Montane Alpine Stretch for something light that moves with you. Nevisport have just got them in. Very tempting if you like to layer up.

I recently purchsed a ME Astron which is somewhere in between (ie a bit stiffer/more rainproof) but still lightweight (only 400g). Would have been tempted by the Montane though if it had been available earlier this winter.

I'd second the ME Astron, it's the perfect jacket for rock climbing in the UK, it's light, adequate protection from the elements, very breathable and has loads of stretch.

The Patagonia jacket is good, but better suited to winter/alpine stuff, I find it too heavy to use in the UK most of the year but I do tend to run hot.
