 Topic - Shorten Soft Shell Trousers

Hi, I don't suppose anyone has had any experience with shortening any soft shell trousers? I'm unsure of how the stitching would survive with the stretchy fabric and obviously I don't want to ruin any trousers by lopping the ends off and having a failed attempt!
I'm not even 5ft tall so buying trousers is a pain!
