one thing i don't like about winter climbing is cold feet... if you could get warm ice, i'd be happy as a pig in doo-doo. so who's got these £50 socks? are they worth it?

In reply to Dom Whillans: was tempted to buy the socks but settled for some "thorlo" American made mountain socks ,google them out ,very good and less than 20 quid

In reply to Dom Whillans: I've got them. Them and nepals saw me through an alpine winter trip! Too warm for ski boots though in any condition I've been in so probably too warm for most double boots!

Haven't got any blisters in them either!

At home I use them as slippers, inside and out well.

The one downside to them is the entire sole is covered in synthetic insulation, constant compression=this failing rather quickly, but the rest of the sock is still warm, a decent insole is still needed though.

When these are eventually done, I shall buy another set.

In reply to Dom Whillans: I'd do the £20 for a pair of socks WTF? thread. I wore some thermal socks from aldi @ £3.49 in minus temps last week and was toasty warm.
