/ Everest ’53 veteran George Lowe passes away. RIP
“I close my eyes and am proud of our happy time upon that mountain” – George Lowe, 2013.
"Well George, we knocked the bastard off".
I know Jan Morris is still alive, are there any others?
There's an obituary here:
I noticed the announcement on the BBC website and the obituary in the Guardian today.
I bumped into him last year at the nursing home (my mother-in-law died there 2 weeks ago) and only realised who he was when I saw his name on his room.
