I also recommend the Old Smithy, i was a regular for years and worked there. The landlord does own a field near by, where i lived in a camper van one summer, however that was when the old landlord was in charge (good friend of mine). I think it may be worth having a word with the new landlord re camping for the weekend.
I also lived on the campsite in Darracott one summer, it is basic but again i would recommend it.
