I go to the Forest of Dean to climb (at Symonds Yat), and I saw yesterday the adverts for the FoD half marathon in September, and am feeling very slightly tempted. Must be lovely if the ground is dry and the trees are dressed in autumn colours - and really messy if it's wet, being entirely off road. Has anyone done this one?

I did the spring one a few weeks ago. The tracks are mainly stony, so you wouldn't be knee deep in mud if it rains. The organisation was excellent, loads of people around the course to cheer you on, and beautiful scenery if you can take the time to notice!! The autumn race is being run over a slightly hillier course than the spring race, which had a nasty little hill at 11 miles. I shall see you there!!

I have to say, the elevation looks daunting! A steep drop, gentle rise, easy drop then a sting in the tail! I'd love to give it a go but just don't think my arthritic old legs would cope!

I've done both the half an full marathons and highly recommend them. Nice, well thought out challenging courses, well organised and good medal t-shirt for finishers (these things matter!)

Thank you all! I shall ponder. It's certainly tempting, because I love the forest, and ought to be running up hills, so getting both at once would be lovely.
