Mountain Running n Munich

Hi All,

I'm off to Munich on Monday to keep my wife company on a 5 day research trip. Bar a bit of reading for my OU course, I'm going to have a lot of time on my hands and as I've got the V3K coming up in a month or so I thought I might try and get some mountain running in if it's feasible. Does anyone have any tips or experiences to share?

Thanks,

Ed

Loads..

If you want easy no stress.. get the train to Tegernsee.. from there you have a range of 1300-1700m high alps to run at.. well signposted.. great trails. 60 mins I think from Munich?

Baby alps sort of thing. Wallberg is the highest peak, a great track runs up 1000m from Rottach Egern? very runnable.

This sort of terrain

Could still be some snow, looks to eb snowing now..

If you want more true alpine terrain maybe Garmisch Partenkirken? but it could be too early.. thats more proper mountainous. 90 mins on the train.

But likely to be a fair bit of snow.. look at the webcams..

In reply to IainRUK: Oh Tegernsee is very touristy so you can get the Kompass maps at any of the petrol stations.. there's one just outside the town.
In reply to IainRUK: Thanks Iain that's very helpful. Just need to get rid of a tweaky hamstring/dead leg now! Cheers.
