The Details From Me:
This has been my second home for the last 4 years. 'Vera' has been an amazing van, and has taken me to over 11 different countries.
She is a cross between a 'van' and a 'campervan'. This is not a total professional conversion. It does not have a sink, nor any side windows (these could be easily added), as I didn't want them.
Vera is in my opinion the ultimate climbers' van - I have had several vans and I designed her for climbing trips. Loads of space for climbing gear, a bed big enough to sleep three at a push, or 2 blokes with room to spare, and obviously great for a couple too.
The 1.9 TDI running at 102bhp cruises the motorway with ease, and has enough power to make driving her a dream.
It goes without saying that she starts every time, has no mechanical faults and drives brilliantly. She has broken a couple of times in the last few years, like any car does. I've always had any work required done at good garages, and I can give a full list of all repairs and services etc.
Vera has driven me to more crags than I can remember and she has even been the star of a recent article in the Climbers' Club annual journal.
I don't want to sell her, especially as I have replaced her with a beat up old Pasat Estate, but I have just bought a house and I need the money for that. I'll be getting another Transporter in a couple of years when the bank balance has recovered!
