Umm, pick any climbing wall, give your belayer a stopwatch?

In reply to Neil Williams:

Speed climbing walls are standardised, always the same measures, inclination and placement of the particular holds.

Sounds unbelievably dull to me but each to their own.

In reply to ericinbristol: Seriously? God it's even sadder than I at first thought.

I am afraid so:

I can just hear it from non-climbers 'So, do you do that speed climbing then?' It will be a change from 'Climbing? Me too - I did one of those charity abseils once'.

In reply to ericinbristol: The complete antithesis of why I took up climbing and practice to this day.

In reply to ericinbristol:

Really? OK, I stand corrected. I thought he just meant one with the start and stop timer buttons at the bottom and top.

We'll be placing a speed wall in our new climbing centre in Sheffield (3 hours drive) that's due to be open in August 2013.

The only other one I know of that's set to a close standard is The Beacon in North Wales.

Nothing in Surrey that I know of.

In reply to PoloMisty: Check out videos on you tube, very strange. Would certainly be more entertaining going to my local wall to see those sorts of shenanigans Each to their own......

I think that's an unduly pessimistic estimate of the time to drive over to Meadowhall from Sheffield, 2 hours in traffic is probably close to the mark......
