Hi All, am off to Chamonix on the 9th of June for a week, to either hike the TMB or maybe part of the Haute route. Does anyone know current mountain conditions after the extended winter?

Cheers

In reply to Richy W: pretty good still. The snow is deep and freezing level around 1500 m snow in town yesterday. Have. Good trip

Umm, just been out for the week and there is A LOT of snow.

Walked up to the Tre la Tete hut and spent a day following a ridge on the Aguille Rouge and there was snow from around 1400m. We were the only people out. Even the guides weren't taking anyone out.

Office de Haute Monagne were telling people not to bother trying the TMB and a few parties we spoke who came out to do it didn't. The answer to all our questions regarding (climbing) routes was 'not possible without skis or snow shoes'. Also high avalanche risk (although I assume this is not such an issue for TMB?).

Weather supposed to be picking up so might be gone/consolidated by the time you get out there?

In reply to Richy W: Definitely no snow in town now. Lots of snow still at the central station on the midi cable car and down to the Chalet du Plan de l'Aiguille.

Hey,

I am looking at going out on the 18th and doing the same routes so would be interested to hear how it is atm, after the warm snap we just had - hoping they had it too!
