The apartment is 35 m2 in size, consisting of an entrance area with a bunk bed and lounge area with 2 x double sofa beds. There is a sliding door between the bunk bed area and the lounge. There is a bathroom with bath and shower and a small but fully equipped kitchenette and a view straight up to the Gouter Refuge and out to les Drus from the Terrace.
Our 1 bedroom apartment is on the 2nd floor of a recently built chalet-style building (with lift) but opens out to a garden area. It is situated mid-way on the road between the 2 main lifts in Les Houches, about 500m from each. A short (off-piste) traverse will take you to the Telecabine de Prarion, and equally you can ski straight back to the building, again off-piste, a rare claim in the Chamonix valley!
Les Houches is approximately 7 km from Chamonix town. There is a regular bus service to Chamonix and its ski areas (Aiguille du Midi, Brevent, Flegere, Grand Montets and Le Tour), but to get the most of your stay a car is recommended. There is free, outdoor parking outside the building.
There is a bakery, several restaurants and sports shops (including ski rental) within 5 minutes walk of the apartment. The centre of Les Houches village, with the Tourist Office, Supermarket, and further restaurants and bars, is 1 km, or 15 minutes walk away.
From the apartment you are looking straight up at the Refuge du Gouter, the main route up Mont Blanc.
The apartment has been recently purchased and we are planning on renovating in late 2013. So we have priced this accordingly. Perfect for anyone wanting a good priced no frills, getaway in the Chamonix Valley in basic accommodation.
