A friend is asking to borrow a rope so he can do the abseil on the Long Stone Pinnacle, which he is climbing on Saturday. I'm guessing that means he is climbing on a single rope.

From recollection you can do the abseil on a single 50m rope. Am I correct? If so he wouldn't need to borrow a second rope.

Thanks for any info.

Just to clarify I mean a single 50m rope doubled.

In reply to Chris Sansum: I'm 90% sure I abed off with a single 50m.

Hi Chris - yes, a 50m doubled is easily long enough (providing you ab down the short side obviously!). There's no tat and no need to leave any as the rock pinnacle above the finish of Vertigo is worn so smooth that the rope easily pulls round it. The one helpful bit of polish at the Yat!
