Has anyone done the Mittellegi Ridge/South Ridge of the Eiger recently? I was wondering if they were in good condition at the moment.

In reply to gallonj: The south ridge was climbed a couple of weeks ago and several times since - there's a track on it, visible from the Monch yesterday. The Mitellegi hasn't been climbed according to a local guide. 2 folk were battling round to the hut late on Sunday but the approach was still very snowy. Try phoning the hut if it's open!

I did the south ridge on the 5th of July. V big cornices made for an exciting trip across to the north eigerjoch but from there conditions were great. This was the first ascent of the season according to the hut guardian, but I bet its had plenty of attention since then, so should be good to go. As Graham says, the Mittallegi is still quite snowy but would be a good adventure if thats what your after..?
