Sad to hear of Tom Price's death. I met him at one of the Mountain Lit festivals at Bretton Hall around the time his book "Travail so Gladly Spent" came out. A modest unassuming man, yet quietly efficient and with well-grounded values as his book illustrates. It's a bit fragmentary in places but still gives a real flavour of what might be termed "the early modern" period of mountaineering. His career is summarised on the BMC website as befits a past president. Well-respected in Switzerland through his friendship with Andre Roch, local dignitaries were asking after him at the Weisshorn 150th Anniversary event when I was there in 2011.
