Hiya all,

Don't know if you picked up the degree to which Stanage got snowed under in April - there were a couple of threads about it.

Anyway, I went up with a camera and whilst I'm not a great photographer - or even a particularly good one - you didn't need to be - it was so beautiful.

Finally got round to uploading photos yesterday, which are here if anyone is interested.

Deliberately left it until it had melted a bit as I thought the contrast of rock and snow was interesting, rather than it just being all snow. Oh, plus when it was really snowy you couldn't get up there except on skis When I was there there were 6-8ft drifts on both side of the road with a narrow single track of tarmac in the middle.

In reply to John_Hat: great pics, I've got a rubbish picture of it on my profile.
You could definitely get up there without skis though as I don't have any
Took a while though as we were walking up from lady cannings plantation. Really hope it happens again this winter as it was so much fun jumping off the top of the crags.
Did a fair bit of snowboarding in the area too.

In reply to John_Hat: Back in the late 60's me and Paul Nunn stepped off the top of the berschgrund against The Rasp and soloed the top ten or fifteen feet with a perfect soft landing below us. So I claim to have soloed The Rasp.

Yes, I was looking for a nice hard route with the bottom 20ft snow for a similar claim!

This bit particularly - there's a crag under there
