UKC members Caroline McCann, Doug Briton (AKA Almost Sane) and Matt Jones have summitted an unclimbed peak in a range that's also never been climbed, in India.

Message from Leh today says:

QUOTE
We're all off the mountain safe and sound, back in Leh enjoying flush toilets and proper chairs!

More importantly though, we summitted the peak on 24th August at 11.25BST, the first ever on that range let alone that mountain. It was 6046m high and a mixture of beautiful red granite to scramble on, and loose chossy black scree to run down!

We've named the range Kang Yabat after the river which the huge glacier feeds. The peak is now called Cha Ri... mountain of the flying bird. Also translates as Tea Mountain which is apt considering how much we drank!!

It was a lightweight effort, self-supported. Just a pity the peak fell 165 ft short of the magic 20,000, but it sounds like a great time was had by all. It's not often you get to name a whole range these days!
