Now that I've actually got two cameras that take RAW images I'd like something like Photoshop that I can play about with the pics. I did try some free stuff but it came with so much rubbish, add ons & malaware that I quickly got rid of it.

So....without actually spending several hundred pounds what would the panel suggest that I use?

NOTE: It's only for personal use.

Second the notion for Lightroom

In reply to Alan Breck: Thirding Lightroom! It also handles cataloguing pretty well (indeed, that was the original function), in terms of tags/labels/etc separate to the physical folders on your disc.

You could get a copy of photoshop CS2 while you are at it. Its old, but does the job with RAW. Personally I simply shoot JPEGs as life is too short.

This months Photoplus magazne has an article on the various programmes available for editing.

I have Lightroom and Photoshop. LR is superb for editing and filing of shots. Elements gives more editing options than LR but less than Photoshop.

Go into Sainsbury's and have a browse at the article in Photoplus mag.
