Heading out this weekend to Sass Fee to do the classic Weissmies SE-NW traverse (Almageller hut to Hohsass hut). Any update on conditions appreciated, especially the state of the Trift glacier for the decent.
In reply to super col: have not been to Saas since the weather craped out. But looks like a lot of snow has fallen. Looking at the web cam earlier today.
Left zermatt yesterday and weather was pretty terrible all around swiss alps, lots of fresh snow, reports show that it could be in for most of this week.
Swiss mountain forecasting seems to be to watch the national weather forecast on tv and if it is a sunny symbol it is ok to go!

In reply to super col: I was on the Pigne de la Lé (Moiry) today - nice weather but knee-deep snow at 3200m and lots more forecast tomorrow. Windy too.
cheers for the feedback. I've been watching the weather forecasts for a while and they just seem to show nice yellow sun all the time. It's good to know the weather's not quite as perfect as it shows.
How long did it take to go up and down the ridge ? It looks a great route
