She's one of the UK's most accomplished climbers: with onsight ascents of E7 trad routes and numerous 8as; headpoints of E8; redpointing 8b+; and tough mountain routes and mixed routes. Not only that, Lucy Creamer has been eight times British Climbing Champion (seven for lead climbing and once for bouldering).

I interviewed Lucy live on air today in an hour long radio show. More details / listen to the podcast http://www.sheffieldlive.org/2013/09/lucy-creamer-one-of-uks-most-accomplis...

Yeah yeah,,but does she know at exactly what grade do climbing shoes make a difference?

Whatever Hazel Finley is the best.

Thanks. An interesting insight from a really good climber.
Sad that your thread has only provoked small-minded & dismissive comment. On the othr hand, this is UKC!!

yes, could it not be argued they are different generations though?

In reply to jamiev:

Also, quite apart from the climbing achievements, from the couple of times I've spoken to her (Lucy C, that is), a genuinely nice person.

In reply to Michael Gordon:

Given the best climber is the one having the most fun, I think what generation they are from is unimportant.
 Liam Brown 22 Sep 2013
In reply to jamiev:

In seriousness, this is cool. Ta.

Thanks. Yes, Lucy is an incredible climber with passion and achievements spanning many disciplines of climbing - trad, sports, adventure, comps, mixed - and she was very open and interesting to interview. Does she talk about 3PS or climbing shoes? You'll have to listen to find out

And yes - of course HF is a superb climber. There's no value judgement here re "best".

There's a short interview within this radio show with Alan James of UKC and with Dave Douglas of Awesome Walls (also a pretty good competition from Awesome Walls to win a MONTH! family climbing pass to the new wall) but the majority of the programme is Lucy (and a few pieces of music she chooses).
