The UK Premiere of the Reel Rock 8 Film Tour – which showcases some of the world's best new climbing and mountaineering films - is on in Lancaster next Wednesday. This follows on from the sell-out world premiere last week in Colorado in front of more than 1,000 people.
Featuring the story of the clash on Everest earlier this year between sherpas and western climbers as well as Hazel Findlay tackling epic bigwalls in Morocco, this year's Tour has 19 stops across the UK.

Climbing legend Yuji Hirayama and America’s Daniel Woods feature on this year’s Reel Rock Tour with The Sensei. Daniel proves himself worthy of climbing with Hirayama during a climbing competition in Japan. Following this ‘initiation’, the pair travel to Malaysia to complete first ascents on Mount Kinabalu.
The Tour also features top UK female climber Hazel Findlay pushing her boundaries in the film - Spice Girl. Findlay says “It’s seems that given our biology we’ll never be as strong as men,” she says. But there’s no reason why we can’t be as bold as men, why we can’t be as emotionally strong as men.” Finlay tests this philosophy with a bold attempt on an 18 pitch ascent in Morocco with American climber Emily Harrington.
Following the recent ‘clash on Everest’ between Ueli Steck, Simone Moro and the Sherpas, the Reel Rock 8 film High Tension, provides the audience with actual footage of the confrontation between the alpinists and Sherpas as well as extensive interviews with individuals involved in the incident. Originally there to capture an Everest speed ascent by Steck and Moro, the Reel Rock crew captured the events on camera and provide a unique insight in to the events that happened that day.
The Tour is the first chance to see all the Reel Rock 8 films together in one evening and includes Clif Bar giveaways, lots of nightly prizes from The North Face, Ellis Brigham and SueMe as well as the chance to win the grand prize which is a residential course at Glenmore Lodge.
