Tap and hold for more than 2 seconds.
The word should highlight in blue with quotation marks.
You can drag these marks to highlight more or less text.
Click on copy button at top of page.
If you can do this you should suss pasting out.

It may depend on the app you are in, but the above is the standard Android method which usually works.

In reply to aln: I tried something along these lines but couldn't quite get it to work. Stupid fat fingers might be the problem.
