Scottish women's sport climbing

So... Names for a top ten list.

Which Scottish women have climbed F7c or harder outdoors?

Names I can think of at F8a...

Natilie Berry F8a+
Lynne Malcolm F8a

A few at F7c+ I think...

Jules Pearson
Amanda Lyons
Jo Lucas

Who else should be on the list (past and present)?

Did the likes of April Marr and Jo George get the 8a tick?

There are a few good kids about the walls but I'm not sure how they are getting on outdoors.

Vicky Mayers is climbing really well, she tends to do trad so not sure what she's done in sport.

Jen Randell should be mentioned too, partly for her own climbing (mainly a boulderer but does other stuff too) but also for the fact that she climbs on rock A LOT, and makes brilliant films that inspire and put across a female perspective on climbing.

Yeah, Vichy's name did occur to me after I'd posted. I've seen her climbing on a wet F7b very comfortably so I'm guessing she has probably climbed a good bit harder.

I've not seen Jen on much sport so i'm not sure where her top grade is at.
Does she have a Scottish passport?

There does seem to be a few Scottish women quietly climbing away on the harder sport climbs. I think their efforts deserve a bit of recognision, god knows being a Scottish based sport climber isn't easy.

Yes, if only there were more sports routes in the central belt, possibly close to indoor training facilities.... *Gets coat*

It's just sport is what most intersts me in my own climbing.

Probably cause for its own thread but I hear of even less hard trad done by Scottish women. Certainly little get mensioned in the climbing media.

Thanks. Whilst it is good to look at something that specifically interests you, I think there is still something to learn from looking at people climbing other disciplines. Either from their training (Jackie Sequeira is a beast who has gained so much strength over the last couple of years) from observing how they move (Helen Cassidy is very fluid), their enthusiasm (Natalie Feather climbing through pregnancy and after having a child) etc. It seems to me that there are a lot of really psyched and strong females doing some really exciting stuff in Scotland along side those that aren't climbing 8b.

I'm pretty sure that April did Silk Purse and Jo did Tribeswoman back in the 90s, so that's a 7c+ tick for both of them.

I belayed April on Fated Path in 2001. It's worth stating that Silk Purse would get 8a if it was somewhere in Spain or Kalymnos for example...so you could argue that April and Jo got a "Holiday 8a" tick back in the day...

In reply to JLS: My daughter (Rebekah Drummond)from Dundee, climbed a 7c+ at Ceuse recently, so you can add her to your list. Another young girl Eleanor Hopkins from Edinburgh has climbed 7c at Ceuse.

It does seem to have taken a while for the standards April and Jo set to be regained but I'd say things are looking very bright now.

In reply to JLS: We are still in Kalymnos. Rebecca Kinghorn ( our daughter) climbed Priapus 7c last week and got Dani Boy 8a today. Last week, 2 of the young girls got a 7b+ so definitely some strong Scottish females coming through.

In reply to JLS: rachel carr has climbed 7c. jessicca mackaskey has also climbed at least 7c. Think sadie renwick must have climbed around this grade in her youth too.
