Anything good for a 5y old girl that anyone knows of? I'll be near bakewell sun-wed, it'll probably rain! What's the dove dale walk like? Best to park at n or s end nt car parks?

In reply to Owen W-G: Go to Chatsworth House., They had loads of things to do involving Halloween but nothing too scary. The Spooky Tractor ride was great fun and, unless your daughter is very sensitive, she'll love it.

Take her down the caves at Blue John or Speedwell. Heights of Abraham had plenty to do as well. If you go onto the Peak District tourism site there should be lots of stuff about activities.

Enjoy; we're up there next week as well ansd usually manage to get stuff unless it chucks it down. Last year we ended up being in a photo shoot with the guys from Rab up on Stanage!

In reply to Owen W-G: Hire bikes (with a tag along if needed) and ride the Monsall trail through the new (ish) tunnels. Go on the steam train at Matlock. Go down Pooles Cavern in Buxton.

In reply to Owen W-G:
Are you planning a complete walk of Dovedale out and back? If not, then the south end (Ilam) car park is nearest the stepping stones, whereas the north end hamlet of Milldale is best for ice cream, butties etc.
If you're staying near Bakewell, take her to look at the big trout in the river by the footbridge. Also loads of ducks and geese to feed.
The various mentioned mines are worth a visit and you get a nice ride in a little boat in Speedwell Cavern.
The Pavilion Gardens in Buxton have a good kiddies playground and a little train to ride on.
