More seriously, the EU politicians are apparently renegotiating the deal that allows the US / NSA to listen in on our communications, presumably excluding politicians' phones and communications?

Funny, quite happy to let the US listen to what we say and whom we talk to, but when it comes to the US listening to Angela Merkel's phone, it's "spying" and should not be allowed...

Ah, yes, but they were only supposed to spying on us plebs, not the politicians - it didn't really matter all that much if it's only us.


I believe Cameron has been given assurances by Obama that he hasn't had his communications listened to.

I wonder if we should all ask for the same assurance from the US Government? I don't see why my legal rights to privacy are any less than Cameron's or Merkel's are...
