Hi,

Does anyone have any experience of using down products made by Quetchua? Ive been looking for a new down jacket, or 2. As i fancy a light weight one for the summer alps and a heavy one for cragging etc. But don't have the money for the top brands.

Im more worried about the down leaking as I've seen from cheaper products. (an old sleeping bag, which was replaced with an alpkit bag after a few uses)

Any advice would be great!

Cheers,
Ant

I had a look at these last year and they looked OK, couldn't find any stray down on them. They did seem quite thin though compared to a better spec jacket but they would probably be fine for what you want if you are OK with a fleece layer underneath.

Well, I bought one of these a few weeks ago:

It seems pretty good so far, with very little down leakage. It's only 100g fill, though so it's not hugely warm, but it's good for an active over layer.

Hood and cuffs are simple lycra-bound, but well sized. Shell is very lightweight.

Mine was reduced to £45

I bought the same and so far pretty impressed.

If you go into your local store they might have some at the sale price as although the decathlon in Glasgow says no stock when I was there on monday they still had quite a few at the £44.95 price

good luck

The Decathlon synthetic duvet jackets are pretty good, I've had a couple and I'll replace this one when I lose it.

Alpkit's duvets are very good value.

QUOTE-don't think any down jackets particularly like rain tbh.

By the time I got back to the car I had been out in this for 2hrs 20odd mins.

There was damp leakage through the seam on the cap peak & some had started seeping through both RH & LF seams below the pockets & as far as the edge near zip.

The rain was steady all the time & a medium rain as opposed to heavy rain. Most of the time I was in open country side, sometimes I was sheltered by dripping trees.

The fabric is ME Drilite loft.

The above does not mean it had not come through the shell, it means I could not detect visually or by feeling anything had. For some reason ME down is not mentioned on here much.

I've got light-weight and a heavy-duty Quencha down jackets and think they're ace! You do get a few loose feathers on the first few wears, but nothing excessive. My light weight one is an older version, but
keeps me toasty down to about -5°C.
