Beta testing updates to Forums

New Topic

Hi Everyone,

We'll be rolling out some updates to the forums over the next week or so. I'd like to offer anyone who's interested the opportunity to beta test the new features and give us your thoughts before the big switch.

Please respond to this if you'd like to try it out. We would prefer people who know their browsers and operating systems.

Cheers,
Paul.

In reply to Paul Phillips - UKC and UKH:

I'd be happy to. Use Chrome/Firefox (Linux so no IE really, but I can put them under Wine if needed). I'm a sysadmin/web dev, so comfy with bughunting and using firebug/other dev tools. So should be able to give you some useful feedback.
In reply to mattrm:

Thanks for the quick responses. I'll send you login details in an hour, just wanted to get a list together first so I can add you all at the same time.

It would be good to get feedback on the old IE version. We're officially dropping support for IE6 with these updates. It still works in IE6, just doesn't look as nice

Was getting some layout issues in IE8 on work PC (especially if browsing in a window smaller than full screen), but these aren't new as of the beta version, they've been around for at least a couple of months now.
In reply to Wingnut:

Could you send me a screenshot if you know how to please?

Please make it work on Lynx - being one of the oldest web browsers in existence it would be rude not to!

Happy to have a look for you. Primarily using Chromium on Ubuntu Linux but can test other browsers under Linux or Windows 7 if need be.
In reply to Only a hill:

> I intend to try it out on Netscape 2 on my 1993 Mac

I'm not sure I want to see the results of that one

I have tested and it functionally works it in IE6, it doesn't look as nice without proper PNG or webfont support. We're not officially supporting that browser anymore though. IE11 is being pushed out now to Windows 7 & 8.1.
In reply to kathrync:

You're added.
