So, I'm staying for a few days near hawkshead in the lake district with my girlfriend. I'm more of a climber myself, but we're planning a nice mountainous walk tomorrow. I only really know the obvious peaks of Scafell, the Gables, Helvelyn and such, all of which are quite a trek - and I've done coniston old man far too many times.

Can anyone reccomend a great peak to walk up that is in the Hawkshead/Coniston/Langdale area. A good day out up a proper(ish) mountain. Wouldn't complain if there was an easy not too exposed scramble involved to tempt the other half into more serious terrain.

In reply to tipsy: Is High Rise via Pavey Ark and Stickle Tarn a nice route?

I'd go for Crinkle crags clockwise which has a short but not exposed scramble bit and if time allows continue over Bow Fell with little height loss between the two.
