Looking at a walk in either area. Just a wee graham with my old dog. Looking to keep away from any deep snow and keep any encounters to a min as he will struggle if in unconsolidated snow.

Any idea at what height the snow is down to or its depths?

In reply to Flinticus:

I was around the Crianlarich hills on Saturday and the Lawers group today. Not really any deep snow apart from the drifts. It was just above ankle height once you hit the 800m mark with avoidable patches down to about 600m. Most of the snow had a crust on top but not solid and it's quite wet underneath. The ground is sodden with melt water so i was glad to be wearing gaiters(as i don't usually).

I got out and didn't encounter any snow and as there was no snow there was no melt water! The ground was still largely frozen and my feet, for once, stayed dry.

Wish that was the same for me, my boots got a bit damp and are still drying out. Where did you end up going?

In reply to nedmoran:

A graham near Crief. Up past Sma'Glen. There's two close together but only did the one.
