Thinking of skiing Norway from south to north ie all of it. Have been going for 2-3 week trips for years but have now decided to do the big trip in the winter of 2015.
Can anybody point the way to any useful resources eg accounts of others that have done the same trip etc.

Plenty of resources in norwegian... This one pretty much sums it up: http://www.norgepaalangs.info/ (in norwegian, but try google translate)

some 270 trips have been completed since 1966, so you'll not be breaking trail exactly. Anyway, it is a big undertaking, but also a fantastic trip! Well worth it.

http://www.fjellforum.no/ is a quite good forum for more recent updates, tips etc.

James Baxter. And he wrote a book about it: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Norway-Outdoor-Paradise-Odyssey-Wilderness/dp/09550...

yes that's the kind of thing = but can't seem to get it to translate for me.

Also thanks for the book link I'll try and get hold of it. My pal is thinking of running back down. I can't run but I do paddle, but think that I may well have had enough after the ski.

I climbed Sticil Face with a Norwegian called Christian Eek a few years back during one of the BMC international meets at Glenmore lodge. The previous winter he'd skied solo from south to North in one continuous push with his dog staying in various huts, Some DNT, others club or private. He seemed pretty ok about the journey but then he is Norwegian.

Chris Townsend walked it a few years ago (1993 I think). I met him in Abisko National Park (I know Abisko is in Sweden but I think he did the majority of the walk in Norway).

Id love to do it, but reckon trying to cross the 'Vidda in Jan or Feb would be torture. If i do it i,ll set off late and do it over two winters.
