Why don't HTML tags (bold, italic etc) work properly in the new forum? And why does editing them with the edit tool not make any difference to the formatting?

That's a rather bold statement to make...
In reply to FactorXXX:

They don't work if thou edit the post. We are just fixing this.

Interesting.

I'll rephrase: What's changed with the way HTML tags are handled by the forum?

In reply to needvert:

Try inserting a properly opened-closed pair of tags mid post, the whole post is tagged not just the enclosed part.

Are you sure?

For clarity, it seems fine on Windows 7 and IE11.

You should also get the system to auto-close any unclosed tags that appear in a post

Pretty sure, yeah, I went back and checked. Unless of course my keyboard is set-up incorrectly and is producing characters that look right when rendered but aren't.

Yep, 2 lots of correctly formatted, opened and closed i and b tag pairs produce that mess ^

It's not you that's doing that - It's the unclosed tags from my post 'leaking' into your post - As I mentioned to Alan above.

Try again now.

Strange, your post when viewed in Internet Explorer is displayed correctly. However, it is a complete mess in Chrome.
In reply to Alan James - Rockfax:

It might be better if you used BB style edit tags rather than HTML, it's not a big job translating on display. The main advantage is that you don't/can't get malformed HTML
