So I'm going to visit my girlfriend's family in Munich in January and we plan to spend some time in Austria. The loose plan is to go skiing for a few days then spend a few days climbing, probably bouldering.

It would be cool if someone with previous experience of a trip, or a local for that matter, could fill me in with some info and answer a few questions...

Which guidebook is best?
How easy is it to hire a couple of pads?
Which areas have quick access?
Which areas are good for a few days hit (wide spread of grades)?

Cheers

Zillertal? Bouldering? January? Good luck. Most of the areas are pretty high up, not sure if the roads would even be open.

Ginzling is close to a road that will be open, but I tried it in March a couple of years ago and although the rock was in good condition the icy landings were disconcerting.

The guidebook is excellent though:

Yeah it's going to be my first trip to Austria so I have no idea of the conditions.

Cheers for the response though!
