i ve just been looking at getting the original films for the kids. it seems that there is some discussion over various editions. i m not really worried about slight changes in edits, so should i just get the cheapest of amazon ? thoughts please film buffs.

It depends how much of a geek you are and if you want the full continuity or the older films, maybe worth a trip round all local charity or cash convertor types shops which are near you to see what you can find first

If you really want to impress, you should also get a copy of the Alan Dean foster book, splinter of the minds eye, as well.

Set after star wars, and before Empire. Never filmed.

Oooh. Not being a geek I'd never heard of that. Looks interesting, I like things that divide opinion

I remember reading that as a kid. Don't remember much about it now though!

Just make sure you get a version where Han shoots first.

Not up on the various editions, but Sainsburys had box sets in a reasonable price a few weeks ago - was tempted as I got VHS ones very cheap, but now they're the only thing we still have a video player for!
