Heya, we are going the south of Spain in a couple of days and want to know if I should bother taking trad gear. Obviously this is a sport climbing holiday but otherwise I prefer trad. Never been to that area before - can anyone please comment on any excellent trad areas? We'll be there for 3 weeks so there is time for a bit of both!

Cheers!

A rack and a few slings won't go amiss particularly if you want to do a long mountain route like on the Penon or on Paglia Orba

There is a load of trad around Costa Blanca. Have a scan through the Rockfax data base. Although many of the longer routes have bolts in parts, a set of wires and a few cams are invaluable.

Never bothered with a rack for El Chorro.
