I want to get an uncomplicated compact camera for a man who is slightly technophobic.

Point and shoot, small enough to clip to a harness, wifi for sharing pictures would be an advantage but certainly not essential. Just so he can take pictures for proof that he woz there.

£200 ish.

Any recommendations? A smart phone would do, but he'd more likely to lose that, and the potential to be slightly creative would be good.

If it's for outdoor use I'd recommend something robust like an Olympus Tough or a GoPro. I've had several smartphones expensively die from water damage just being in my pocket when it's raining.

I've a Panasonic DMC FT1 which has been replaced by the FT2,3 & now 5 I think. 'tis waterproof and shock proof and about the size of a packet of fags. Decent zoom range, and all internal so nothing to get dirt stuck in it. Andy Kirkpatrick reviewed the FT3 on his blog I think.
