UNIVERSITY OF WARWICK CLIMBING CENTRE CLOSURE: 9TH–23TH DECEMBER 2013 INCLUSIVE

We are pleased to announce that major investment into the
Climbing Centre will commence on Monday 9 December whereby
existing methods of heating will be removed and replaced with far
more efficient systems to allow significantly enhanced control of
both warm and cool air throughout all seasons.

These internal works are scheduled to be completed by Monday
23 December after which the centre will close for Christmas.
When the Climbing Centre opens from 10.00 – 3.30 pm, 27-31
December inclusive, we are hoping there will be an immediate
impact with regard to increased heating in the Centre thus
substantially enhancing the experience of our valued customers.

External work to complete the project will continue into January
and we hope that all will be finalised by early February at the
latest.

However, please note the Centre will be open as normal after new year from 2nd January.

In the meantime, we would like to thank all customers for the
patience, co-operation and understanding shown while this
important work takes place and will look forward to welcoming all
back to a much improved Centre in the new year.

Please see http://www2.warwick.ac.uk/services/sportscentre/ for further information.

In reply to Carolyn Quinney:

The Bear rock climbing centre may be open, but staff have closed two lines (the ones either side of the new heater) because the structure of the heater is unsafe to fall near.

In addition to this, today I heard that the heater itself can only currently blow cold.

Given these two issues, why was the installation deemed complete ahead of schedule? Who signed off the work? I can only assume more closures while it all gets sorted out.
