Hi, it's some festive fun, or a serious comp, depends on how you look at it, like in a race you have early leaders and even pace makers. It 's out of my hands now. I'll just tally the totals. Happy voting y'all

In reply to johnj: Festive fun or serious...I'm off to watch some paint dry.

My sentiments too, I think some people are pissing about, I was only ever really a support act.

In reply to Al Evans:

Eyup Al, we started these threads as a parody on SPOTY, but people genuinely have put things in obviously Rich Simpson is a bit of a joke, but that's the way that it works.

Maybe you could look at it in the way that if the support was never in place in the first place the stars would never even have got started either.

This kind of system takes place in local football clubs across the country every year, man of the match, players player, best performance, top scorer etc. It was only a matter of time before it developed on UKC, we have the top posters thing, but you could spam the boards with shit all year and become number 1 which is completely irrelevant in my humble opinion.

stay cool X

Roll up, Roll up, come along and cast your votes, can forum veteran Al Evans, mix it with the big boys, or is there someone not yet on the list planning a grass routes campaign out there, could Frank the Husky make a late charge?

The choice is yours!

Hello Al, I started this on a sunday morning whim, as Choss and Puppy the dog set the ball rolling and I've really had to try and work this to get some votes.

Come on NYE UKC Crew, lets have some votes y'all !
 JJL 31 Dec 2013
In reply to Al Evans:

If you want a sensible vote, can I suggest Pete Oxley.

A couple of reasons. Firstly, I like "service to climbing" more than "achievement" - the latter tends to be more self-serving than the former.

Then, within "service", I think doing something that takes a lot of time and energy (and money) over many years... and which is then enjoyed by a pretty large cohort of UK climbers, has merit. More so than just putting up lots of routes (because, in a way, the routes are there waiting).

Anyway. Oxley for me. Deserves an OBE.

Thanks once again to all those who took part, congratulations to all those on list and all the best for 2014

any late votes are welcome but they will not be added to this list.

cheers.

I am humbled to be in such esteemed company, but winning is just ridiculous. Where were all the sensible voters?
johnj 01 Jan 2014
In reply to Al Evans:
I dunno, maybe the sensible voters stayed away and watched the X factor instead. Perhaps now with this illustrious award on your CV you could get a place on strictly later this year?
