A conditions update for anyone thinking if heading out tomorrow:

Weather was not as bad as forecast today and climbing conditions were pretty good in Coire an Lochain. We were on No 4 buttress, which was reasonably sheltered from the wind. The route (Tracheotomy) was plastered in fresh snow so took a lot of digging. We abbed off just below the cornice to avoid the storm above and avoid avalanche-prone descent options. Turf was well frozen.

The snowpack is (unsurprisingly) dodgy in places though. We saw a couple of decent-sized avalanches from Y Gully Left Hand. Heard another couple of smaller avalanches too. The continuation slope between 3 and 4 buttresses looked well loaded so we kept well clear. Be careful out there!

Similar in Sneachda as well. A damp walkin, winds fine, turf on the buttress surprisingly frozen and the temperature at the end of the day was -3 at the top of the crag. The top of Mess of Pottage was scoured giving a friendly exit on neve. Jacobs did not look friendly!
