I realise this may be a stupid question but Is it acceptable to skin up the sides of the piste in Aviemore ?

Seems to be the norm (or certainly acceptable) in Europe and am just starting out touring so need some practice before heading off into other areas.

I've done it, and seen others do it, and no-one's ever objected...

The worse I saw was in Stowe, Vermont, not only did they skin up everywhere they could, they'd spark up big dooobs in the uplift cabins.

I'd avoid the Gunbarrel!

Yes its fine! Ive done it a couple of times now. No ones objected. You can also buy a ski mountaineering ticket for £10. Allows you to use up to two lifts that does not include the train. Personally dont like using that, Id rather skin. But does cut out a good 45min if you woke up late.

Yes, no problem, as other have said. Next to the Fiacaill Ridge Poma is a often a useful way up if you are heading for 1141m (or up the tow track itself if the lift isn't running).
