I am thinking due to their location and aspect there might be some better freeze thaw action going on in the NW than else where. Going to go for Penguin Gully on the 3rd if the wind allows!

Anyone got any local information?

We were up Beinn Dearg yesterday. Penguin is very well filled with snow, but it was wet and unconsolidated so we didn't do it. After a refreeze it could be very good ... Walking on the snow was hard going! Freezing level was well above the base of the crag yesterday.

Out for a walk in the Fannichs today. Snowpack frozen down to the lowest patches at around 500m. Generally good if slightly crusty neve on most aspects with some softer windpacked snow (and some big cornices) on N and E aspects above 900m. Saw debris from a full depth avalanche on a E facing slope, but this could be several days old.
