I have just finished compiling “Bouldering for Beginners” a free ebook that is aimed at people who are just starting to get into bouldering and want to understand a bit more about it. Topics covered include the basics, equipment, staying safe, movement and bouldering outdoors. The content is mostly based on Bouldering Essentials but at only 42 pages long it can’t delve too deeply into the larger topics, for example the movement chapter is only a few pages compared to over 60 in Bouldering Essentials.

The ebook is free to all, download it using the link below

How very cool, Dave - and something for free too. Hurrah.
I am just off for a (very reluctant) bouldering session as part of my New Years resolutions, so have had a quick read of your booklet and hopefully some of the advice will rub off!

Liked the grade conversion chart. Nice and simple.
Good work - and good luck with the bigger book.

Thanks Serena. Funnily enough it has been pointed out to me that the grade chart is way off in its comparison of route and boulder grades, and it may well be but the idea is just to give a rough indication for someone who has never heard of bouldering grades.
