A friend was recently recounting a good, but rarely frequented, scramble to be had in the North Lakes, which I believe is on Bannerdale Crags just East of Blencathra (approx GR334294)

Does anyone else know about this, or am I mis-remembering it (I didn't have anything to make notes)?
There was talk of a rib of good rough rock (i.e. some kind of volcanics rather than Skiddaw slate series). Does this ring any bells for anyone? I don't think there's enough continuous rock on Carrock Fell for this to be the location. There's nothing mentioned on the UKC database.

All I can think of is the east ridge but don't hold me to that....

Me too, but it's not volcanic rock. It's also a bit broken and very escapable, but well worth doing from Mungrisdale as an alternative approach to Sharp Edge.

Thanks folks - I only have the old Lakes scrambling guide and it's not in there. Sounds worthwhile then... and my memory was correct.

Not really a scramble, but a nice little ridge nontheless.
