Rohan women's 'Striders' are good. I am pretty sure that we have just thrown out a worn pair but these were from several years ago and the leg was flared at the bottom - the current ones are straight and come in short sizes already, so you can take them up even more as they usually have a simple seam at the bottom. I think Striders are medium weight but you can wear some thermals underneath if there's room. We have some other things from Rohan and find them to be well made.
