/ Job Vacancy at Big Rock Climbing Centre
We are looking for an enthusiastic person to join our Reception Team at Big Rock Climbing Centre in Milton Keynes.
This is a permanent position, starting in April 2014, working from 6:00pm-10:00pm Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, and 900am-7:00pm Saturday and Sunday.
Supplementary instructing work may also be available, should the candidate be interested outside of these hours.
As front of house meet and greeter, responsibilities will include:
•To ensure all telephone calls are handled in a timely, professional and friendly manner.
•Respond to queries, and direct as appropriate by email, telephone or face to face.
•To ensure centre users are welcomed in a polite and professional manner.
•Maintain appearance of reception area and ensure the centre is clean and tidy.
•Take bookings for groups, corporate, birthday parties, and other instructed sessions ensuring entry into the diary.
•Receive deliveries of goods and ensure stock is placed in correct locations.
•Manage other reception staff as necessary.
•Deal with customer comments/suggestions/complaints in the first instance, along with promoting a good atmosphere throughout the centre in order to satisfy all our customers.
•Serving in the café of hot and cold drinks and snacks, with occasional preparation of light meals.
Performance will be measured by: customer feedback; health and safety of customers, visitors and staff; effectiveness and efficiency of reception; and cleanliness and general appearance of the centre.
Pay will be related to experience, performance reviews and responsibilities undertaken.
Experience and Qualifications
The successful applicant will be a self-motivated member of the team who will ideally, but not essentially, have the following:
•An understanding of working in a café and a busy climbing environment.
•Proficient with dealing with members of the public, and dealing with multiple demands at any one time during busy periods in the centre.
•Experience of working with databases and EPOS systems, or ability to learn how to work with and manage them.
•Possess confident skills in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, email and Internet skills.
•A minimum of First Aid at work.
