A few of us are planning a trip to Tyrol at the beginning of March. Most of the group will be lift skiing but there are a couple of us up for touring.

Are there any suggestions for locations that would suit both?

Is it worthwhile hiring a car to increase options?

Have a look at the Otztal valley, Solden would give you what your after.

For South Tyrol (Dolomites), this is a brilliant book with full English translations. Fully recommend the area for lift skiing too, fairly quiet and beautiful, but probably biased having spent a few years there working seasons. Can give you more detail on where to stay etc if you need.
